Polyurea

“POLYUREA” is a description of a technology and in itself is not a material. It is a mixing technology and there are many polyurea systems applicable depending upon the application being presented. Polyurea is that derived from the reaction product of an isocyanate component and a resin blend component. The isocyanate can be aromatic or aliphatic in nature. It can be monomer, polymer, or any variant reaction of isocyanates, quasi-pre-polymer or a pre-polymer. The pre-polymer, or quasi-pre-polymer, can be made of an amine-terminated polymer resin, or a hydroxl-terminated polymer resin. Polyurea is a thermoset material, not a thermoplastic. As with all thermoset material, there is some very minimal “shrinkage” associated with cure.
