A culvert, constructed in the 1930s, was showing signs of significant wear and deterioration due to decades of exposure to environmental factors and continuous use. The degradation of the culvert poses risks including potential collapse, roadway failure, and environmental harm. To restore the structural integrity of the culvert, a culvert liner is proposed to be installed. A grouting material is required to fill the annular space between the liner and the existing culvert which ensures a secure and stable installation. Traditionally a cementitious grout is used to fill these voids but cementitious solutions are slow, require expensive equipment mobilizations, need custom bulkheads to be put in place and are labour intensive. Cementitious solutions are also an environmental risk as uncured product can run into nearby waterways.
