Abandoned Mine Shaft in Nova Scotia

The Challenge - Water Filled Mine

Abandoned mine shaft located near Oldham, Nova Scotia, was over 200 feet deep and full of water. This created a very dangerous situation and previous attempts to close it were unsuccessful.

The Solution - Void Filling

Poly-Mor Canada was called up on to safely enclose the mine shaft opening. Using a special technique with rebar-reinforced foam and deep injections, we were able to effectively close the opening of the mine shaft and vent the water overflow. The area was then back filled and levelled. The Result: Poly-Mor Canada’s process was able to provide the best closure possible and eliminate the hazard.
